INSPIRATION. Hazel Maria Birdsong died September 7, 2014, succumbing to a malignant brain tumor.
Hazel dearly loved her family, her church, her friends, and her students. She had a loving heart with great compassion for others.
She was a dedicated Kindergarten teacher for nearly twenty years. Her kids were more than just students. They all were part of her extended family. When they were sad, she cried with them; when they were happy, she laughed with them.
Hazel's strong, unwavering faith in God sustained her during her twenty month fight against an insidious disease. She was at peace with her life, all through to her last days.
The way she lived her life, and the way she faced her death, Hazel is an inspiration to all who knew her. We keep her memory in our hearts, and continue her legacy with the Angel Eyes Charitable Foundation.
Our lives are measured by the moments we spend
Reaching out, touching others, giving of ourselves.
We have visions beyond our dreams, and often forget
That life with meaning calls with but a whisper.

We need nothing more that outstretched hands
To touch those who walk with us through this life.
Dreams are within our grasp: one step at a time,
One touch at a time, one loving voice at a time.
Love, freely given, is God’s blessing for us to share,
First with those few who share in our dreaming.
We must always endeavor to embrace each other,
In loving warmth of our hearts’ burning fires,
Easily kindled, yet a struggle to keep aflame
My heart and my love are yours, as are my life
And my every whisper.
